Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering, designing, and specifying HVAC, plumbing, and utility systems in a design-build setting with highly variable projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Engineer and design HVAC, plumbing, and utility systems for various projects, ensuring compliance with local building codes and industry standards.

  • Prepare detailed engineering calculations, specifications, drawings and other construction documents for the installation of mechanical systems.

  • Collaborate with project managers, architects and other engineering disciplines to develop project designs and optimize system performance.

  • Conduct detailed site surveys to assess existing conditions and identify potential challenges related to mechanical system installations.

  • Review and approve shop drawings and submittals for mechanical systems to ensure adherence to design specifications and project requirements.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams during estimating, construction, installation, start-up and commissioning phases.

  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to select appropriate equipment and materials for projects, considering cost, quality, and compatibility.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements, incorporating new technologies and best practices into mechanical system designs.

*This position is primarily for the Fort Wayne, IN location but could work remote if its a good fit!

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

  • Five (5) or more years experience in engineering and designing HVAC, plumbing, and utility systems in a design-build setting.

  • Proficiency in design software; Auto Cad, Revit, HAP (or similar), etc.

  • Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to mechanical, plumbing and utility systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented approach, with a focus on accuracy and precision in design and documentation.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to pass a drug screen
